Hospice/Veterans Partnership No Veteran Should Die Alone
The Tennessee Hospice/Veterans Partnership (HVP) is a state-wide initiative providing technical assistance and program development recommendations aimed at strengthening the relationships between community hospice agencies and VA facilities to improve veterans’ access to hospice and palliative care.
We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), invites hospices, state hospice organizations, Hospice-Veteran Partnerships and VA facilities to join a pioneering program focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment. Working with veterans can often include dealing with the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This handout helps identify the many unseen symptoms of PTSD in soldiers and veterans. The Veterans Administration has also added hospice and palliative care services to the VISN 9 Health Care Services website. The VA recently issued fee service funding guidelines for hospice and palliative care. These guidelines are available here.
